MURFREESBORO, Tenn. | The University of Alabama in Huntsville women's basketball team played its final preseason tune-up on Monday night, giving host Middle Tennessee a tough test in a contest in which MT prevailed 75-50. UAH will now turn its attention to the regular season.

The Chargers will open the campaign on the road at the end of this week, traveling to Nova Southeastern and Barry on Friday and Saturday, respectively. UAH's home opener is slated for Monday, Nov. 17, when Trevecca Nazarene visits.

On Monday,
Halle Jarnagin once again led the way for the Chargers as she scored 12 points while grabbing a team-high seven rebounds in addition to collecting four steals. Joining Jarnagin in double figures was
Juanice Newton who hit two of the team's seven 3-pointers en route to scoring 10 points while also collecting five rebounds.

Newton was a strong 4-for-6 from the floor in the game.

The score was 36-24 at the half in favor of the Blue Raiders, but UAH had the game within single digits with under two minutes to go in the period. The hosts would then outscore the Chargers 39-26 in the second half, but the UAH defensive effort resulted in a field goal percentage of 37.5 in final 20 minutes of the contest.

Olivia Jones paced MT with a double-double as she scored 17 points and grabbed 11 rebounds.

For the contest, UAH connected on 38.6 percent of its attempts, while the Blue Raiders shot 41.9 percent for the game. Both teams hit seven 3-pointers, as the Chargers limited the home team to a 3-point field goal percentage of just 26.9 percent.

The Chargers once again shared the ball well in the game, dishing out 12 assists on the team's 17 made field goals, and freshman
Chandler Elder led the way for the Blue and White with four helpers while
Shannon Steinert chipped in with three.
