TEAM RESULTSNEW MARKET, Ala. | The University of Alabama in Huntsville cross country teams competed Saturday at the UAH-hosted NCAA Division II South Regional where the women's team ran to a fourth-place finish while the men placed sixth.

Senior
Michelle Kruse and sophomore
Kailey Williams led the way for the women's team, placing fourth and sixth place respectively, earning themselves a spot on the All-South Regional team and a bid to compete individually at the NCAA Division II National Championship next month. Kruse ended the race with a time of 22:32.81 with Williams not far behind at 22:44.51.

The UAH women also received a strong showing from junior
Chloe Whitworth who placed 34th overall with a time of 24:15.79.
Kelsey Crawford notched a 56th place finish (25:03.14) followed by
Alison Jay who placed 60th with a time of 25:07.55. The Chargers also had
Heather Powell (81st, 26:28.58) and
Vanessa Cardwell (92nd, 27:28.40) finish in the top 100 on Saturday.

On the men's side, UAH had two runners earn a spot on the All-South Regional team with junior
Myles Scarano finishing 18th with a time of 33:34.86 and fellow junior Kenneth Richardson placing 21st with a time of 33:44.66. Junior
Taylor Buzzard (43rd, 34:22.58),
Jose Ortega (54th, 34:45.65),
Alex Gilliland (56th, 34:55.53),
Daniel Rush (67th, 35:25.95), and
Thomas Grace (75th, 35:49.89) all ran for the Chargers with top 100 times.
Overall on Saturday, Florida Southern finished first on the men's side followed by Saint Leo and West Alabama both earning trips to nationals. Tampa placed first in the women's race and will be accompanied by Saint Leo and Union to nationals next month.
With the Chargers' season coming to a close,
Michelle Kruse and
Kailey Williams will compete for a chance to become individual nation champions on Saturday, Dec. 6 in Louisville, Ky.
