UAH Heads to Nebraska Omaha for Weekend Series

About the Chargers...

RECENT ACTION: The Chargers travelled to Fairbanks, Alaska this past weekend to take on the Nanooks in a conference matchup. UAH dropped the opener, 2-1, in overtime, and went on to fall in the finale by a score of 4-0. UAH is currently 3-13-2 overall and ranks 10th in the WCHA with a 2-10-0 conference record.
 
STRENGTH IN GOAL: Carmine Guerriero was spectacular in the opening game at Alaska this past weekend, as the sophomore made 44 saves in a tightly contested conference matchup. The Montreal, Quebec native now sits at 10th in the country and third in the WCHA with a .934 save percentage. He has totaled 30-plus saves in nine of his 11 starts this season, holding teams to 2.44 goals per contest.
 
HIGHLIGHT: Guerriero earned national recognition in the NCAA Hockey Plays of the Week for one of his standout plays in his strong outing. His two saves on a two-on-zero stop in the third period came in at three in the weekly highlight reel.
 
PACING THE OFFENSE: UAH points leader Max McHugh notched the lone goal of the weekend for the Chargers, which puts him at nine tallies (4g-5a) this season. The freshman has notched at least one point in each of the last five series.
 
FRESHMEN IMPRESS: The Chargers rookie class has combined for 31 points from eight goals and 23 assists so far this season, the most of any class on the roster. The freshmen are led by McHugh's nine points (4g-5a), followed by Brandon Parker (0g-7a) and Brennan Saulnier (1g-6a). Fellow rookies Richard Buri (2g-0a), Cody Champagne (1g-2a) and Josh Kestner (2g-1a) have combined for eight points.
 
SCORING LEADERS: UAH has posted 88 points from 32 goals and 56 assists so far this season. The scoring has been spread out amongst the squad as eight different players have totaled at least six points. McHugh (4-5—9) leads the way, followed by Chad Brears (2-5—7), Jack Prince (2-5—7), Brennan Saulnier (1-6—7) and Brandon Parker (0-7—7). At this point last season, UAH had a total of 53 points from 21 goals and 32 assists.

About the Mavericks...

RECENT ACTION: The Mavericks come into the matchup with a 10-4-2 overall record and a NCHC record of 6-3-1 following a sweep of St. Cloud State by scores of 3-2 and 5-3 last weekend. UNO is 4-1-1 in non-conference series this season.
 
MATCHUP HISTORY: UAH heads to Nebraska Omaha this coming weekend for the final series of the 2014 calendar year on Saturday and Sunday. The Chargers hold a 2-10-2 all-time series record against the Mavericks and a 1-8-1 record when visiting Omaha. The two squads last matched up in the 2012 campaign, which resulted in a pair of victories for UNO.
 
UNO PROFILE: The Mavs have compiled 135 points on offense from 51 goals and 84 assists, led by Austin Ortega with a team-high nine goals to go along with nine assists. Both Jake Guentzel (5-11—16) and Jake Randolph (3-13—16) have double-digit helpers. Ryan Massa has seen the most time in goal for UNO posting a 2.06 goals against average and a .935 save percentage. Brian O'Rourke has a team-high 43 blocks on defense.
