UAH and Tech Combine for 14 Goals in 10-4 Defeat

Box Score HOUGHTON, Mich. | After allowing seven goals in the second period, the University of Alabama in Huntsville hockey team fell 10-4 on Saturday night at Michigan Tech inside MacInnes Student Ice Arena.

The Chargers (1-28-1, 1-18-1 WCHA) had a quick response after the first Michigan Tech (12-14-6, 10-8-4 WCHA) goal, but that was about all UAH had to say as the host Huskies cruised the remainder of the game.

Regan Soquila put home an easy wrister after Jack Prince received the puck from Chad Brears, who forced the turnover behind the net. Prince found Soquila in front to tie the game, just 44 seconds after Tech scored the first goal of the game on the power play.

After the Chargers gave up four straight goals, and only one coming on the power play, Prince took advantage of a miss-played puck by the Tech goalie to put home the backhander and cut the deficit to three goals. Steven Koshey was credited with the assist on the goal.

The Huskies would go on to score three more goals in that period, making the score 8-2 after two periods of play.

Prince scored his second goal of the night after redirecting a shot from the point by Brears. Brears and Koshey were credited with the assists. The two-goal outing by Prince gives him his first multi-goal outing of his collegiate career.

Brears added another goal at 12:56 of the third period, after finishing a rebound in front of the net. Brears finished the night with two points, giving him seven total on the season.
Blake Pietala and Malcolm Gould each scored a pair of goals for the Huskies with six other players recording at least one goal.

Matt Larose was credited with the loss, allowing seven goals and finishing with 35 saves in the contest. Carmine Guerriero came in relief and allowed three goals and notched 12 saves.

The Blue and White stay on the road for one more weekend, traveling to Minnesota State on Feb. 14-15.
