Box Score PHOTOSHUNTSVILLE | The University of Alabama in Huntsville women's soccer team jumped out to an early lead on Sunday afternoon, but visiting Findlay would score two unanswered to claim a 2-1 victory at Charger Park. UAH drops to 1-3-0 on the season, while Findlay improves to 3-1-0.
Â
The Chargers struck first as
Khadijah Jannah scored from in front in the fifth minute. Jannah made a long run in on goal with teammate
Alexcia Alexander by her side, and Jannah was able to finish it past the keeper to put UAH ahead 1-0.
Â
UAH nearly went in front by two in the 12th minute as Jannah and Alexander were again alone in front of the keeper. Jannah was racing down the right side and at the last moment played it across Alexander, and the Findlay keeper made a spectacular diving stop to keep the score at 1-0.
Â
Leveling the contest, Findlay would get on the board in the 25th minute when Rachel Louie scored, and the score would remain tied at 1-1 through the halftime break.
Â
Findlay would then grab the lead in the 67th minute as Daniel Hart buried it to make it a 2-1 game.
Â
There were shots aplenty in the contest as the visiting side held a 22-17 advantage including a 10-7 edge in attempts that were on frame. The Chargers, however, held a 7-4 edge in corners.
Â
Picking up the loss in goal for UAH was
Larae Breaux, but the freshman did record eight strong saves in the contest.
Â
UAH will now look to Thursday night as North Alabama visits. The Gulf South Conference opener kicks off at 7 p.m. at Charger Park.
