Game NotesAbout the Chargers...
RECENT ACTION: UAH ventured to Houghton, Michigan for a pair of WCHA games against No. 9 Michigan Tech on Jan. 30-31, and the Chargers fell in consecutive games by scores of 5-0 and 11-1. Despite the losses, UAH remains tied for eighth place with 12 league points this season off a 6-14-0 conference record.

NEARING THIRTY: Junior
Jack Prince (Leicester, England) scored the lone goal of the weekend for the Chargers at MTU, posting his fifth tally of the season in Saturday's game. Prince now has 12 points (5g-7a) this season and 29 (14g-15a) in his career.

BETWEEN THE PIPES: Sophomore
Carmine Guerriero (Montreal, Quebec) saw his season save percentage dip to .926 after the weekend series at Michigan Tech, where he allowed nine goals and made a total of 56 saves in just over 64 minutes on the ice. Guerriero's save percentage ranks 20th in the nation and third in the WCHA.

ROOKIE PACES OFFENSE: UAH points leader
Max McHugh (Seattle, Wash.) ranks fourth among all WCHA freshmen with 17 points (7g-10a) in 2014-15. Over the Chargers four series in January, McHugh registered five points from two goals and three assists. His point total is the most of any Charger since the 2010-11 season when Matt Baxter accumulated 22 for the season.

HELPING HAND: Freshman
Brandon Parker (Fairbault, Minn.) leads the Chargers with 11 assists this season, which rank tied for third amongst WCHA rookies. Parker has registered an assist in three of the past four series including a pair of helpers against Alaska Anchorage (Jan. 3). His 11 assists are the most by any UAH player since the 2010-11 campaign.

FRESHMAN INFLUENCE: The UAH rookies lead all classes on the roster with 47 points this season from 14 goals and 33 assists, led by McHugh with 17. Parker is second amongst the first-year players, followed by
Brennan Saulnier (1-7--8),
Richard Buri (3-1--4),
Josh Kestner (2-2--4) and
Cody Champagne (1-2--3).

BUILDING: Second-year head coach
Mike Corbett has his team at a 7-18-3 overall record and 6-14-0 in WCHA games, which are win totals that already surpass last year's marks of 2-35-1 overall and 2-25-1 in the league. The Chargers are one of three teams in the NCAA to improve by five wins since the 2013-14 campaign, and this is the first season with at least seven wins since the 2009-10 season when UAH went 12-18-3.

BLOCKING OUT: Sophomore
Brandon Carlson (Huntington Beach, Calif) is tied for the national lead with 70 blocks, headlining a defense that ranks fourth in the country with 434 blocks.
Frank Misuraca is second on the squad with 46, followed by
Graeme Strukoff (41), Parker (40) and Champagne (34) in the UAH top five.
LOOKING AHEAD: Following the LSSU series, the Chargers will be back in Huntsville for a four-game homestand to wrap up the 2014-15 season's home slate, beginning with Ferris State on Feb. 20-21 and capping off with Alaska Fairbanks on Feb. 27-28. Thundersticks are the featured giveaway against FSU, while mini space shuttles courtesy of the U.S. Space & Rocket Center will be given away in the UAF series.
About the Lakers...
RECENT ACTION: Lake Superior State has lost three of its past four games after being swept at Alaska Fairbanks this past weekend and splitting a road series at Bowling Green on Jan. 23-24. LSSU is currently tied for eighth with UAH at 12 league points on a 6-16-0 WCHA record, and both teams are currently in playoff position due to Alaska Fairbanks' ineligibility for this postseason.

MATCHUP HISTORY: UAH holds an all-time series record of 3-6-1 against LSSU and 2-1-1 when visiting Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan. The Chargers and Lakers matched up earlier this season at the VBC, with the squads walking away with a split. UAH's 5-2 victory in the finale was the first home victory over a Division-I opponent since the 2010-11 season.

LAKERS PROFILE: The LSSU offense is led by Bryce Schmitt who has a total of 14 points (7g-7a) this season, followed by Stephen Perfetto with 13 (8g-5a) and James Roll with 10 (1g-9a). Gordon Defiel has logged 27 starts in goal for the Lakers, owning a 3.11 goals against average and a .915 save percentage. Kyle Chatham tops the defense with 37 blocks.
