CLEVELAND, Tenn. | The No. 6 University of Alabama in Huntsville baseball team won by a score of 2-0 in the series opener and tied 1-1 in the second game of the doubleheader on Friday afternoon against Gulf South Conference opponent No. 21 Lee. UAH improved to 7-1-1 (3-1-1 GSC), while Lee was handed its first loss of the season and now sits at 9-1-1 (3-1-1 GSC).
Senior
Daniel Koger was excellent on the bump for the Chargers in the opening game, tossing 7.0 shutout frames with six strikeouts and one walk. Koger improves to 3-0 on the season.
Lee's starter Trenton Hill kept pace with Koger, but was tagged for one earned run after throwing a wild pitch allowing senior
Chandler Brock to score from third base.
UAH was able to tack on another run in the bottom of the eighth as
Trey Mathis drove in
Cody Burton on a groundout to take a 2-0 advantage.
Luke Mould was sensational out of the bullpen yet again, completing the final 2.0 innings with no walks, no hits and one strikeout. The senior now has two saves this season.
UAH managed five base hits, led by leadoff man Burton who went 2-for-4 with a walk and a run scored. Brock totaled four walks in five trips to the plate, most by any Charger this season.
The Chargers and Flames entered into another pitcher's duel in the second game of the doubleheader, which would eventually end in a 1-1 tie due to inclement weather in the area.

UAH benefitted from a strong start by
Chris Kilpatrick who turned in 6.1 innings with one run allowed, two walks and a season-high seven strikeouts.
Mitchell Wright was efficient out of the bullpen working 1.2 shutout innings with no hits allowed and one strikeout.

Lee was able to take a 1-0 advantage over the Chargers in the bottom of the fourth, as MJ Brown lifted a sacrifice fly to bring home Trenton Hill from third base.

The Chargers were able to fight back and tie it in the sixth inning when Ryan Barns ripped a single to center to bring senior
Cody Burton home from second base.

The seventh and eighth innings went scoreless for both squads before the game was called heading into the top of the ninth.

UAH totaled four hits and two walks in the tie. Burton led the way offensively going 1-for-2 with a run scored and a walk.
The series finale on Saturday was canceled due to the continuation of inclement weather in the region.
