About the Chargers...

RECENT ACTION: UAH was handed a pair of losses in the WCHA series against visiting Ferris State, falling by scores of 2-1 and 3-2. UAH (8-20-4, 7-16-1 WCHA) remains in eighth place in the conference standings with 15 league points, which translates to the seventh due to Alaska Fairbanks' ineligibility for the 2015 WCHA playoffs.

WEEKEND LEADER: Alex Carpenter (Portage, Mich.) had his strongest performance in WCHA play this past weekend, when the junior posted two points from a goal and an assist. This season, Carpenter owns seven offensive points (3g-4a), while chipping in 13 total blocks on the defensive end.

ROOKIE PACES OFFENSE: UAH points leader Max McHugh (Seattle, Wash.) picked up his 11th assist of the season on the Chargers' first goal scored in the series finale. McHugh now owns a total of 19 points (8g-11a), which ranks 23rd overall in the WCHA, third among WCHA first-year players, and 26th amongst NCAA freshmen.

BETWEEN THE PIPES: Carmine Guerriero's (Montreal, Quebec) season record dropped to 8-13-3 with the pair of losses this past weekend, despite accruing 58 saves over two games. The sophomore's save percentage now sits at .928, which is a mark good for 13th in the NCAA and second amongst WCHA netminders. Guerriero also owns a 2.46 goals against average which ranks ninth among the league's goalies.

LEADING THE NATION: Brandon Carlson (Huntington, Calif.) is now alone atop the NCAA leaderboard for blocks in the 2014-15 campaign with a total of 74, after getting in front of three shots this past weekend. Carlson also chipped in his fourth assist of the season during the series, giving him a total of eight points (4g-4a).

SPECIAL TEAMS: UAH held Ferris State scoreless in 11 power-play opportunities over the weekend, giving opponents a .171 success rate (29-170) in the 2014-15 season. UAH has vastly improved upon that mark since last season's .299 success rate (49-164).

CHANGE IN A YEAR: The Chargers offense continues to be a steady improvement over last year's, as UAH averages 1.7 goals per game with a total of 147 offensive points (54g-93a) in comparison to the 2013-14 season when the squad averaged 1.1 goals per game with a combined 113 points (41g-72a) for the year.

LOOKING AHEAD: The Blue and White wraps up the 2014-15 regular season next weekend with a trip to Bowling Green for a pair of WCHA games. Puck drops at 6:07 p.m. CST for both games next Friday and Saturday night.

About the Nanooks...

MATCHUP HISTORY: UAH holds a 6-16-1 all-time series record against UAF and 3-4-1 when hosting the Nanooks in Huntsville. This will be the first time these two programs have matched up at the VBC since Nov. 20-21 in the  1992-93 season, when Alaska Fairbanks won in back-to-back games.

RECENT ACTION: The Nanooks (15-13-2, 10-12-2 WCHA) are 3-0-1 in their last four contests, including an unbeaten weekend with a win and a tie against No.2 Minnesota State. Alaska Fairbanks has a 3-8-1 away record, with a 0-3-1 record on the road in the 2015 calendar year.

NANOOKS PROFILE: Junior Tyler Morley leads the squad with 13 goals and a team-high 18 assists to lead the team with 31 points this season. Colton Parayko (4-17--19), Marcus Basara (10-9--19), and Garrick Perry (7-11--18) follow Morley on offense. Sean Cahill has made the last four starts in goal for UAF, averaging 1.00 goal against and 20.33 saves.
