LIVE STATS | LIVE VIDEO
HUNTSVILLE | The University of Alabama in Huntsville women's basketball team will open up play in the 2015 VisitSpaceCoast.com Gulf South Conference Women's Basketball Tournament on Tuesday night in Jackson, Tennessee, at regular season champion Union. Tip-off is slated for 7 p.m.

The Chargers (11-17) enter the tournament as the eight-seed and are making their fourth consecutive GSC tournament appearance, while Union (23-3) is serving as the top seed in its first year of eligibility for the postseason as a GSC member.

UAH is 5-7 in eight previous appearances in the conference tournament, including a championship in 2013 and a runner-up finish in 2012.

Halle Jarnagin led the Chargers in the regular season, pacing the squad in scoring and rebounding with 11.3 points and 5.4 rebounds per contest while ranking second on the team with 2.4 assists per game, and the Brentwood, Tennessee, native scored 20 against Union when the two teams met just nine days ago on Feb. 21 in Huntsville.

Union led that contest by as many as 14, but the Chargers pulled into a tie late only to see the Bulldogs hit a pair of free throws with 0.3 seconds left in the game to secure the victory.

GSC Player of the Year Amy Philamlee led Union in the game, scoring 33 points on 10 made field goals, and she finished the regular season leading the nation in scoring with 24.1 points per game while ranking second in the country with 8.2 assists per contest.

Philamlee also paced UU when the two teams met at Union earlier in the season, scoring 22 in a 76-60 decision.

Four Chargers scored in double figures on that day with Jarnagin's 13 leading the way.

The winner of Tuesday night's contest will advance to the semifinals which will be held on Friday on the campus of Samford University in Birmingham, Alabama, facing the winner of fourth-seeded West Georgia and No. 5 seed North Alabama.
