UAH Announces 2015-16 Hockey Promotional Slate

HUNTSVILLE | The University of Alabama in Huntsville athletic department announced Thursday the promotional schedule for the fast-approaching 2015-16 season, set to begin on Oct. 9-10 at the Von Braun Center against Connecticut.

Giveaways will be prevalent throughout the 18-game home schedule this season, as each night features a promotional item. Fans will be able to collect all 2015-16 individual trading cards this season, with featured cards available during each weekend series.

Each game will have special in-game promotional competitions and activities, while providing both pregame and in-game entertainment for fans. Entertainers include figure skaters, dance teams, and youth hockey teams.

The Chargers will be hosting the 1995-96 NCAA Championship team for the second home series of the season against Alaska Anchorage on Oct. 23-24 with members of the team in attendance. UAH will wear special throwback jerseys during the weekend.

Additionally, the series on Feb. 12-13 against 2015 NCAA Tournament participant Minnesota State will serve as Military Appreciation Weekend at the Von Braun Center, and all veterans and active military personnel will receive free general admission to both contests.

All UAH home games will be played on Friday and Saturday nights at 7 p.m. at the Von Braun Center, with the exception of the Bemidji State series on Wednesday, Nov. 25 and Friday, Nov. 27 which will wrap Thanksgiving. Both games against BSU will be played at 7 p.m.

Fans can purchase hockey tickets by visiting the UAH Athletic Office or by calling (256) UAH-PUCK to purchase group tickets. Tickets can also be purchased through Ticketmaster at (800) 745-3000 or at Ticketmaster.com.

Below is a full breakdown of all home weekends and their promotional activities:

Oct. 9-10 vs. Connecticut presented by Wells Fargo, Anglin-Reichmann-Snellgrove & Armstrong P.C., Bryant Bank, Damson Automotive, and Sodexo

UAH welcomes Hockey East affiliate UConn to the Rocket City to drop the puck on the 2015-16 regular season, and the Chargers will be giving away t-shirts to the first 500 fans on opening night. The following night will feature the first trading card set of the new season.

Oct. 23-24 vs. Alaska Anchorage presented by Wells Fargo, Total Package Hockey and Maynard's

After sweeping UAA to begin the 2015 calendar year at the VBC, the Chargers will welcome the Seawolves in the second home series of the season that includes the second trading card set as Friday's giveaway.

Saturday's giveaway will be 500 replica kids' jerseys that will honor the 1995-96 NCAA Championship team as a part of the reunion weekend.

Nov. 6-7 vs. Michigan Tech presented by Wells Fargo and SportsMed

The Chargers will receive a visit from 2015 NCAA Tournament participant Michigan Tech to begin November's slate of games. UAH will be giving away the third trading card set on Friday, followed by UAH pucks for the first 500 fans in attendance to Saturday's contest.

Nov. 25, 27 vs. Bemidji State

UAH will be home for Thanksgiving again this season with rival Bemidji State coming to Huntsville for games on Wednesday, Nov. 25 and Friday, Nov. 27. The fourth installment of the 2015-16 trading cards will be given away for the opener, with turkey stress balls as the promotion for Saturday's game for the first 500 fans.

Dec. 4-5 vs. Northern Michigan presented by Spirit Coach

The Chargers will face the Wildcats for the first time this season to begin December's slate of games, following a UAH sweep of NMU in the previous year's campaign at the VBC in January. The Blue and White will be giving away the fifth trading card set on Friday, which will be followed by 500 thundersticks on Saturday night.

Dec. 18-19 vs. Colorado College

The Holiday season will be upon the Rocket City for the Chargers final series of the season as the squad welcomes NCHC affiliate Colorado College to the VBC to wrap the 2015 calendar year. Fans will receive the sixth trading card installment Friday, while Saturday's promotion will be UAH Christmas cards for the first 1,000 fans in attendance.

Jan. 8-9 vs. Alaska Fairbanks

The Chargers first home series of the New Year will be against the visiting Alaska Fairbanks Nanooks, who will travel roughly 4,000 miles for the WCHA matchup. UAH will have the sixth trading card set being given away on Friday, with 500 UAH foam mini sticks as the promotion for Saturday's game.

The Friday, Jan. 8 contest will also be televised nationally on the American Sports Network as part of a deal with the WCHA. For more information, click here.

Feb. 12-13 vs. Minnesota State

UAH will be celebrating the armed forces with Military Appreciation as the Blue and White welcome MacNaughton Cup Champion Minnesota State to the VBC for the lone home series in February. The eighth trading card set will be available Friday night, while Saturday's giveaway will feature UAH team photos to the first 1,000 fans.

March 4-5 vs. Bowling Green presented by the Space & Rocket Center

The 2015-16 regular season will end at home against the closest geographical WCHA program in Bowling Green, and UAH will be giving away the ninth and final trading card set for Friday's opener. Saturday will feature a special foam rocket courtesy of the Space & Rocket Center for the first 500 fans in attendance.
