Box Score BOX SCOREANCHORAGE, Alaska | The University of Alabama in Huntsville hockey team fell in the WCHA series finale at Alaska Anchorage by a final score of 4-3 at Sullivan Arena on Saturday night. UAH dips to 6-17-3 (4-13-3 WCHA), while UAA improves to 10-13-3 (7-11-2 WCHA).
The Chargers jumped on the board first on Saturday night as
Regan Soquila netted his first goal of the season at 7:17 of the first period, after a feed from junior captain
Brent Fletcher behind the net. Both Fletcher and fellow junior
Matt Salhany were credited with assists on the marker.
However, Alaska Anchorage bounced back to take a 2-1 lead after 20 minutes of play with tallies by Brad Duwe at 10:46 and Tad Kozun at 18:07.
The Seawolves were able to add to their lead following the break with a goal by Blake Tatchell at 3:58, before freshman
Tyler Poulsen drew the Blue and White within one at 3-2 with his third goal of the season at 12:36. UAH points leader
Max McHugh notched his 15th assist on the play, while freshman
Jetlan Houcher recorded his second assist of the series.
Following second intermission, UAA went on to increase to its advantage with a goal by Jarrett Brown at 11:49 of the third period, but the Chargers were able to rebound to cut the lead to 4-3, which went on to be the final Saturday, as Soquila netted his second of the game – his first career two-goal game – at 12:57.
Junior
Matt Larose received the start in net in the series finale, as the Nanaimo, British Columbia, native's record dipped to 4-5-1 on the year despite accruing 27 saves in the contest. Larose stopped a game-high 12 saves in the first, followed by 10 in the second and five in the third.
UAH posted 12 total shots on goal in the game, with Poulsen pacing the squad with three shots on target.
The Chargers will be away from competition in the coming weekend, before welcoming Minnesota State to the Rocket City for a WCHA series on Feb. 12-13 for the first time since 2013-14.
