RECENT ACTION: UAH dropped both games in its first nonconference tilts of the 2016-17 season, falling by scores of 6-0 and 4-0 at Hockey East affiliate UConn this past weekend. UAH is now 2-2-0 overall, while holding a 2-0-0 record within the WCHA.
 
HELPING HANDS: Junior Josh Kestner and sophomore Kurt Gosselin remain tied for the team lead in assists with two apiece, as each notched a pair of helpers during the season-opening sweep of Ferris State. Kestner now has five career assists, while Gosselin has totaled nine career helpers.
 
ON THE BLOCK: Sophomore Cam Knight is currently leading the Chargers and the nation defensively with 14 blocks so far in four appearances. Fellow defenseman Brandon Parker joins Knight on the national leaderboard with 11 blocks, good for a tie for second in the NCAA.
 
IRON MEN: The Chargers have a trio of seniors who have played in a total of 109 games in their careers in the Blue & White, as Brandon Carlson, Brent Fletcher and Cody Marooney have appeared in each of the four games so far this season. The UAH hockey program record for most appearances in a game was set by Joel Bresciani with 173 from 1999-2003.
 
FINDING THE NET: Sophomore Max McHugh paces the UAH offense with two goals so far in the 2016-17 season, posting one goal in each of the season-opening victories at Ferris State on Oct. 1-2. McHugh – who is tied for third for goals scored in the WCHA – has been the Chargers offensive leader for the past two seasons, breaking 20 points as both as freshman and sophomore.
 
BETWEEN THE PIPES: Matt Larose's season record slipped to 2-2-0 with the loss, despite accruing 48 saves during the weekend series. The senior goaltender now owns a .898 save percentage and a 3.55 goals against average through four games this season.
 
ROAD SWING ENDING: Following this weekend's series, UAH returns home to the Rocket City for its home opener against Lake Superior State on Oct. 21-22. Puck drops at 7:07 p.m. on both Friday and Saturday next week.
 
HUSKIES PROFILE: Michigan Tech enters the weekend series with an 0-4-0 overall record and a 0-2-0 mark within the WCHA, after most recently falling to Minnesota State in both games of a series last weekend in Mankato, Minnesota. So far in the new season, Dane Birks leads the offense with two points on two assists, while four different Huskies have chipped in goals in 2016-17. Devon Kero has spent the most time in goal for MTU, accumulating a 4.03 goals against average and an .873 save percentage.
 
MATCHUP HISTORY: UAH holds an all-time record of 0-10-0 against MTU and an 0-6-0 mark when visiting Houghton, Michigan. The Chargers and Huskies matched up in a two-game series in Huntsville last season, with MTU coming away with a pair of wins.
