ST. LEO, Fla. | The 2016 NCAA Cross Country South Region Championships were held on Saturday morning in the Sunshine State, and The University of Alabama in Huntsville came away with a fourth-place standing for the men and a seventh-place finish for the women.

Sophomore
Brydon Groves-Scott led the way for the Chargers with the sixth-fastest performance in a 10k race in program history, as he posted a time of 32:20.9 for eighth place at the South Regional.

Benjamin Knox followed Groves-Scott on Saturday morning in 22nd place at 33:11.4, preceding both
Anthony Wells in 33rd at 33:40.6 and
Corey Lewenkamp in 34th at 33:42.2 to round out the Chargers in the top 40. Both Groves-Scott and Knox earned All-South Region honors for finishing in the top 25 of the field.

In the women's 6k race,
Angel Sillivant paced the Blue & White with a personal-best time of 23:27.81 in 18th, and was quickly followed by
Stacy Solomon in 22nd at 23:36.61. Sillivant and Solomon both earned All-South Region for their top-25 performances.Â

The Charger women also had
Marlee Mason (58th, 24:43.56),
Auburn Cohan (67th, 25:01.92),
Allison Ammons (69th, 25:04.33),
Lauren Allred (70th, 25:04.68) and
Vanessa Cardwell (74th, 25:13.38) competing at the South Regional.

Also competing for the UAH men at the NCAA South Regional included
Alex Gilliland (49th, 34:13.5),
Tripp Maloy (62nd, 34:52.8) and
Carson Tullo (71st, 35:11.2).

In the final team standings, Lee finished atop the men's competition while Puerto Rico-Rio Piedras won the women's race.
