EDINA, Minn. | The Western Collegiate Hockey Association announced its weekly award winners on Monday afternoon, and The University of Alabama in Huntsville sophomore
Kurt Gosselin earned WCHA Defensive Player of the Week for his performance in this past weekend's sweep at Alaska Anchorage.

A Brighton, Michigan, native, Gosselin tied for the team lead on offense and was tied for first amongst WCHA defenseman with three points on two goals and one assist in UAH hockey's first-ever sweep when visiting Alaska Anchorage, while finishing with a +2 rating on the ice and posting a league-best 11 shots on goal.

This season, Gosselin leads all UAH defensemen with six points on three goals and three assists, ranking tied for fifth in 2016-17 among WCHA defensemen.

This is the sophomore's first WCHA Defensive Player of the Week award after earning WCHA Rookie of the Week once in 2015-16.

The Chargers return to the Von Braun Center ice this Friday and Saturday night as Alaska Fairbanks visits for a two-game WCHA series. Puck drops at 7:07 p.m. both nights.
