Â
Baylee Johnson was terrific for the Chargers in the game as the freshman scored a season-best and led all players in the contest with 24 points after going a strong 8-for-12 from the field while also adding a 6-for-8 performance at the charity stripe.
Â
Joining Johnson in double figures was

Â
Josi Saunders led the visitors on the glass with eight boards.

Â
The Chargers started the contest strong, scoring the game's first eight points en route to holding a 14-12 advantage at the end of the first quarter, and though UAH's lead would expand to as many as six in the second quarter, an 8-0 run for the hosts just before the half lifted Shorter to a 25-23 advantage at the break.
Â
Shorter would go in front by seven at 34-27 just over two minutes into the third quarter, but UAH did not back down and ripped off a 16-6 run that was keyed by seven of Johnson's points to tilt the contest back in its favor at 43-40 with 3:31 left in the third quarter.
Â
Unfortunately, Shorter answered back with a spurt of six straight points, and the Chargers were unable to push back in front in the game's closing moments.
Â
For the contest, UAH held a slim advantage in field goal percentage, shooting 46.5 percent to Shorter's 46.2 percent, while SU's 17-5 advantage in second-chance points off a 29-23 rebounding difference for the Hawks helped the hosts secure the victory.
Â
The Chargers will be back home for the first time in 19 days when the squad welcomes Delta State on Thursday at 5:30 p.m. at Kelly Court at Spragins Hall. DSU was a 57-46 winner in Cleveland earlier this season.
