MEN'S BOX SCORECLEVELAND, Tenn. | The University of Alabama in Huntsville tennis teams split on their road trip to Lee on Tuesday as the women's team won 6-3, while the men's team dropped a tight 5-4 decision. The ladies improve to 6-5 (5-1 Gulf South Conference), while the guys slip to 2-8 (1-4 GSC).

For the women, the win is the fourth consecutive which is tied for the longest winning streak in the conference as Mississippi College has also won four straight matches.

In their contest on Tuesday, the squad had to bounce back from a deficit after doubles play as Lee led 2-1 with UAH's point coming from the pairing of
Marleen Gort and
Naomi Esteve who were 8-2 winners at the third position.

The Chargers quickly were able to level the contest, however, as Gort picked up a point at the top spot in singles play after her opponent had to retire, and the visitors then went ahead 3-2 as
Cristina Cabanas bounced back from an opening set loss to win the No. 2 contest 3-6, 6-3, 6-2.

Tying the match at 3-3, the Flames then won at the No. 3 position, but
Aniek Remmerswaal lifted UAH back in front with a 6-2, 2-6, 6-1 in the No. 4 contest before
Marta Briega clinched the match for UAH with a 6-2, 6-2 victory at the sixth spot.

Esteve created the 6-3 final by winning at the No. 5 by scores of 6-2, 6-2.

On the men's side, the Chargers fell behind 2-1 after doubles with the No. 3 duo of
Harrison Stone and
Rodrigo Palomino giving UAH its point with an 8-5 victory, and them found itself down 4-1 after Lee grabbed the first two points in singles play by winning at the first and third positions.

Elliot Hopson would then win 4-6, 6-1, 6-3 at the second spot, but a victory for the Flames in the No. 5 match sealed the contest for the hosts.

To produce the 5-4 final, UAH received wins from Stone at the fourth (6-4, 6-4) and
Arthur Menezes at the sixth (2-6, 6-1, 10-8).

Both teams will return to action this weekend when they travel to Georgia College for a non-conference match on Saturday.
