HUNTSVILLE | The UAH tennis teams split with visiting Mississippi College on Saturday as the women won 7-2 while the men fell 6-3. The ladies improve to 9-10 and wrap up the GSC regular season with a 7-3 mark, while the men slip to 2-17 (1-8 GSC).

Both teams will close out the regular season at home on Tuesday when Martin Methodist visits, and then the attention will turn to the GSC tournament which starts on Thursday in Montgomery, Alabama.

In Saturday's victory, the women jumped out to a 2-1 lead after doubles as the second pairing of
Marleen Gort and
Naomi Esteve teamed up for an 8-3 win while the No. 3 duo of
Sarah Stearman and
Aniek Remmerswaal were 8-2 winners.

The Chargers then proceeded to win all but one of the six singles matches.

The most dominating win came at the sixth position where
Marta Briega was a 6-0, 6-1 winner, while Stearman won 6-3, 6-2 at the No. 3 match and
Cristina Cabanas won at the fourth spot 6-3, 6-2. In the No. 5 contest, Remmerswaal won 6-0, 6-4, and at the sixth position,
Madison Gulick rebounded from a 7-5 loss in the opening set to win 6-2, 10-4.

In the men's contest,
Murilo Basso and
Elliot Hopson joined together at the top spot in doubles play to record UAH's first point with a 9-8 victory.

The Chargers would also earn points from
Rodrigo Palomino's 6-3, 7-6 win at the third position in singles, and
Noah Pring was also a winner, recording a sixth-position victory at 3-6, 6-2, 12-10.
