RIVALRY TRIP: The UAH women's soccer team will travel to North Alabama on Wednesday to continue Gulf South Conference action, and kickoff at UNA is slated for 7 p.m. The Chargers enter the showdown at 4-2-0 overall and 1-1-0 in GSC play. UAH then turns around to welcome Oakwood for its final non-conference game of the season on Monday with the Charger Park match slated for a 7 p.m. start.
Â
MAKING SAVES: UAH keeper
Larae Breaux features a career saves per game mark of 6.67 which ranks 11th among all active Division II players, and this season the junior ranks 18th in the country and tops in the GSC with a strong .905 save percentage.
Â
STRONG D: UAH has allowed just four goals on the year which is second in the conference behind Lee who has surrendered only a pair, and that mark gives UAH a strong 0.67 goals against average.
Â
MAKING STRIDES: The Chargers have made numerous improvements from a season ago including a significant reduction in shots differential. Last year UAH was outshot on average by a 19.2 to 11.7 clip, but that has been lowered to a 0.8 difference this year as the opposition has 14.3 shots per contest compared to 13.5 for the Chargers. In fact, UAH has outshot its opponent in five of the team's six games with Carson-Newman's 33-11 advantage in shots – in a win for UAH – being the reason why the opposition has an overall edge.
Â
ABOUT NORTH ALABAMA: The Lions are 2-4-0 on the year and 1-1-0 in GSC action after defeating Shorter and losing to Lee in a pair of road games last week. Margarida Sousa is the team's offensive leader with a pair of goals and an assist for five points, and Kate Webster has played each minute in goal for UNA and features a 1.27 goals against average and a .733 save percentage.
Â
SERIES HISTORY: UAH is 8-14-0 all-time against the Lions, but the Chargers have not won against UNA since a 2-0 victory on Oct. 3, 2008. Last season in Florence,
Alexcia Alexander opened the scoring for UAH and helped give the visitors a 1-0 lead at the half, but UNA scored six unanswered in the second half to win 6-1.
