BACK AT IT: The UAH women's soccer team returns to action at Charger Park this weekend as the squad steps back into conference play, welcoming Delta State for a 5 p.m. tilt on Friday before turning around to entertain Mississippi College at 1 p.m. on Sunday. UAH enters the contests at 5-3-0 (1-2-0 Gulf South Conference).
Â
RECAPPING LAST WEEK: The Chargers last played a conference game last Wednesday, falling 2-1 on the road at North Alabama, but the team rebounded from that with a 16-0 victory over visiting Oakwood on Monday night on the UAH campus.
Â
MOVING ON UP: With the 16-goal outburst against the Ambassadors, UAH now ranks eighth among all Division II schools with 25 total goals, and the team is also 10th nationally with a scoring offense of 3.13 goals per game.
Â
ON HISTORY'S DOORSTEP: UAH keeper
Larae Breaux posted her ninth career shutout against Oakwood, and that places her now tied in the UAH record books in that statistical category. The record of nine has stood for more than 10 years as Sarah Sollie also logged nine clean sheets during her career that spanned from 2002 to 2005.
Â
SCORING MACHINE: Alexcia Alexander logged a hat trick in UAH's big victory over Oakwood to give herself six goals on the season, and after starting the year late due to injury, Alexander now has the six scores in six games to rank ninth in the nation with the one goal per game average.
Â
ABOUT DELTA STATE: The Lady Statesmen venture to the Rocket City with a 4-4-0 overall record and a 0-3-0 mark in conference play, and DSU is currently on a three-game slide. Catherine Thomson leads the Lady Statesmen offensively, logging 13 points on the strength of five goals and three assists.
Â
SERIES HISTORY: UAH leads the all-time series with Delta State by a lopsided 11-2-0 record including a 3-0 victory in Cleveland last season. In that contest,
Sydney Pfankuch scored twice for the Chargers.
Â
ABOUT MISSISSIPPI COLLEGE: The Choctaws enter play this weekend at 5-2-1 overall and 2-0-1 in GSC action, and the team is unbeaten on the road so far through the first month of play at 2-0-0. Jess Davenport's four goals and one assist have her atop the MC offensive ledger.
Â
SERIES HISTORY: The brief all-time series with MC is tied at 1-1-0 after the Choctaws were 7-1 winners in the Magnolia State a season ago.
