HUNTSVILLE | The University of Alabama in Huntsville women's soccer team started the 2016 campaign on Sunday, dropping a tough 1-0 decision to visiting Alabama A&M at Charger Park. The Chargers begin 2016 at 0-1-0 while AAMU earns its first victory in moving to 1-5-0.

Turning Point
-Estelle Esperance scored the only goal in the contest, putting it in in the ninth minute for what would prove to be the game-winning score. UAH nearly equalized 81 minutes later as the home side had two golden chances in the final minute with both Sydney Pfankuch and Amanda Elsey having great attempts at goal.

Inside the Box Score
-Pfankuch led the Chargers with four shots on goal including a team-best two that were on target, and her shot output was matched by Arieal Alexander who had four attempts in her collegiate debut.
-Larae Breaux recorded three saves in goal for the Chargers while being charged with the loss.
-UAH outshot the Lady Bulldogs 15-13 on the afternoon, but A&M held a 4-3 advantage in shots on goal.
-Indicative of the scoring chances the team generated, the Chargers held a wide 6-1 advantage in corners on the afternoon including earning four to the visiting side's none in the second half.

Noteworthy
-Pfankuch's shot total was her highest since also recording four against Oakwood last season on Sept. 14.
-After playing each minute of every contest a season ago, Breaux has now played 1,930 consecutive minutes dating back to the 2014 season.

Next Time Out
-The Chargers will be back at Charger Park after a day off on Labor Day when the team welcomes No. 11 Carson-Newman to Huntsville on Tuesday. Kickoff is slated for 12 p.m.
