UAH Heads to Lee and Shorter This Weekend

REGULAR SEASON ROAD FINALES: The UAH women's soccer team hits the road for the final time in the 2017 regular season this weekend, traveling to Lee for a 6 p.m. CDT kick-off on Friday before venturing to Shorter for a noon CDT contest on Sunday. The Chargers enter the weekend at 6-8-0 (4-7-0 Gulf South Conference).
 
LAST TIME OUT: The Chargers picked up a thrilling 2-1 victory in the 90th minute last Friday against Christian Brothers as Amanda Elsey scored the game-winner with just seven seconds remaining on the clock. On Sunday, Union used a pair of goals in the first half to secure a 2-0 victory over UAH at Charger Park.
 
AROUND THE GSC: North Alabama continues to pace the conference, sitting in first with 28 points, while Mississippi College and Lee sit just behind on 27 points. In fourth is Valdosta State with 23 points, and West Florida is fifth with 22 points.
 
LEADING THE WAY: Riley Ridgeway remains at the top of the UAH offensive ledger as she has 16 points from six goals and four assists, and the Athens, Alabama, native also leads the Chargers with her three game-winning goals which is the 40th-best mark in the country. Second on the squad in scoring is freshman Brynn Colvin who has recorded a strong debut season with three goals and three assists for nine points.
 
MINDING THE NET: Starting all 14 games for the Chargers, Megan Buford continues to be solid in goal for UAH. The Union Grove, Alabama, native has posted six victories, and she still leads the GSC in saves with 71 on the year. Additionally, her 5.1 saves per game ranks third in the league.
 
ABOUT LEE: The Flames are 10-4-0 (9-2-0 GSC) on the season while going 4-2-0 at home. Summer Lanter has scored nine times while adding two assists for a team-best 20 points, and the team has used three goalkeepers on the season with Haley Gribler picking up five of the team's wins as she owns a 0.98 goals against average.
 
SERIES HISTORY: UAH is 1-3-1 all-time against the Flames with Lee taking last year's meeting 5-1 in Huntsville.
 
ABOUT SHORTER: The Hawks head into the weekend at 2-11-1 on the year, and they are 1-10-0 in conference play with a Friday evening contest against West Alabama on tap. With 10 points, Taylor Hendrix leads Shorter offensively as she has scored four times while adding two assists. Sydney Durham has made 59 stops while playing the majority of the minutes in goal for Sunday's opponent.
 
SERIES HISTORY: Shorter has a 3-4-0 advantage in the all-time series, but the Chargers took last year's contest with a 3-1 victory in the Rocket City.
