UAH Set for WCHA Series at Bowling Green Friday and Saturday Night

WEEKEND AHEAD: UAH (6-9-1, 5-4-1 WCHA) continues its road swing this Friday and Saturday at Bowling Green (7-5-5, 6-2-4 WCHA) for a WCHA series at the Slater Family Ice Arena. Puck drops at 6:37 p.m. CT on Friday followed by a 6:07 p.m. CT game time for Saturday.
 
RECENT ACTION: The Chargers garnered their third consecutive series split over the weekend in a trip to Marquette, Michigan to take on Northern Michigan, with the hosts taking the opener 3-1 before UAH notched a 3-2 victory on Saturday. UAH – with its .406 winning percentage – is off to its strongest start in 16 games since 2005-06 when the squad went 8-7-1 (.531) to start the season.
 
CONTINUING IMPROVEMENT: UAH boasts a 5-4-1 record since the start of November, and the squad ranks tied for 23rd nationally with a .550 winning percentage in that span. Additionally, the Chargers rate tied for 24th in the NCAA with 3.00 goals per game since Nov. 1.
 
HOMETOWN SCORING: Following a two-goal performance that led UAH to a 3-2 victory on Saturday night, Huntsville native Josh Kestner now ranks third in the conference and tied for eighth nationally with a career-high 10 goals. Kestner has also chipped in four assists to own 14 points this season, good for a tie for eighth in the WCHA.
 
HELPING HAND: Tyler Poulsen registered his team-leading 10th assist of the season in the series opener at Northern Michigan, which puts the junior tied for sixth in the conference in 2017-18. In his past eight appearances dating back to Alaska Anchorage on Nov. 10, Poulsen has recorded eight of his 10 assists which are the most by a WCHA player in that span.
 
ROOKIE IMPRESSES: Christian Rajic scored the Chargers lone goal on Friday night to keep him atop the WCHA freshman class and tied for fourth amongst NCAA rookies with seven goals in 2017-18. Rajic has also notched four assists to own 11 points, which rate tied for fourth among WCHA rookies.
 
KEEP IT POSITIVE: Madison Dunn enters the weekend in a three-way tie for first place in the WCHA with a +9 rating on the ice, while registering two goals and five assists for seven points. Dunn's seven points and five assists are career-highs for the junior.
 
FALCONS PROFILE: Bowling Green sits atop the WCHA with 24 league points to begin the weekend, owning a 7-5-5 overall record and a 6-2-4 mark within the WCHA after winning once and tying once in home contests against Bemidji State last weekend. The Falcons offense boasts four players with 10 points or more led by Cameron Wright with 15 points on five goals and 10 assists. Both Ryan Bednard and Eric Dop have made eight starts in goal, combining for a 2.39 goals against average and a .910 save percentage.
 
SERIES HISTORY: UAH owns a 4-21-1 all-time record against Bowling Green and 1-11-1 when visiting the Falcons. The Chargers won the program's first-ever WCHA game against Bowling Green on Dec. 7, 2013.
