A NEW YEAR: The University of Alabama in Huntsville men's lacrosse team will start its second season on Saturday, welcoming North Greenville for a 1 p.m. tilt at Charger Park on the UAH campus.
 
RECAPPING LAST YEAR: UAH went 3-8 a year ago during the inaugural campaign, and two of those wins for the Chargers came at Charger Park. The team started off the campaign with a thrilling 11-10 win in overtime over Brevard, and the squad would win another overtime contest on April 3 by a 10-9 score at Davis & Elkins.
 
RETURNERS: The Chargers bring back 16 players from last year's team including eight of the team's top 10 scorers and its starting goalie. Kevin Coppinger headlines the returners offensively as he scored 18 times and added 11 assists for a team-best 29 points during his freshman season, while Michl McNeil is back after starting 10 games last year in the cage, going 3-7 on the year while stopping 131 shots.
 
NEW FACES: The squad also features 15 new freshmen including three from Alabama. The rest of the group includes three from Florida, two from both North Carolina and Ohio, and one each from Maryland, Tennessee, Virginia, Wisconsin, and Alberta.
 
ABOUT NORTH GREENVILLE: Saturday's contest marks the first of the season for NGU who was picked to finish fourth in the Conference Carolinas preseason poll. Last year the team averaged 8.27 goals per game while allowing just more than 11, and Alex Proly is the team's top returning scorer as he was second on the team a year ago with 39 points on the strength of 22 goals and 17 assists.
 
SERIES HISTORY: North Greenville got the best of the Chargers in UAH's first-ever road game, winning 16-1 in Tigerville, South Carolina, on March 5 of last year. Colton Nall scored the lone goal for UAH in the contest.
