BIRMINGHAM, Ala. | The University of Alabama in Huntsville tennis teams both traveled to Birmingham-Southern on Friday and both came away with victories as the women were 7-2 winners while the men won 6-3. With the victories, the ladies move to 2-3 on the season, and the gentlemen are now 4-3.

Both teams will now next be in action on Sunday when Gulf South Conference play starts as the women's match against West Georgia – originally scheduled for Saturday – will now be played at 1:30 p.m., and to accommodate that match, the men's contest against West Alabama on Sunday will now begin at 10 a.m.

UAH 7, BSC 2 (W)

The Chargers started off the match with a 2-1 lead after doubles as the pairing of
Marleen Gort and
Naomi Esteve was an 8-4 winner at the second position while
Cristina Cabanas and
Monika Polakovic teamed up for an 8-6 victory at the No. 3.

UAH then comfortably sealed the overall match with strong showings in singles action.

At the No. 4 and the No. 6, respectively,
Sarah Stearman and
Marta Briega were 6-0, 6-0 winners, while Cabanas cruised with a 6-2, 6-0 win at the second.
Aniek Remmerswaal also produced a point for the Chargers as she won 6-3, 6-0 in the fifth-position contest, and Esteve won 6-3, 6-3 at the third.

The men's team also generated a 2-1 lead with a pair of wins in doubles as the No. 2 pairing of
Noah Pring and
Elliot Hopson won 8-2, and that score was matched in the third by
Chris Miller and
Guilherme Coleta.

Hopson converted his doubles win into a strong 6-0, 6-0 victory at the fifth spot in singles play, and Pring was also a winner in singles action as he was a 6-4, 6-3 victor at the No. 3.
Timo Christen in the fourth position dropped the opener 6-4 but then bounced back to win the point with a pair of 6-3 victories, and Coleta earned his first collegiate clincher as he won 6-3, 2-6, 6-2 at the sixth position.
