CLEVELAND, Tenn. | The University of Alabama in Huntsville women's tennis team cruised to an 8-1 win at Lee on Thursday, leveling the team's conference record at 3-3 while moving to 5-10 overall on the year. Lee slips to 5-3 (2-3 Gulf South Conference).

The big victory started with a clean sweep of the doubles points as both the third pairing of
Cristina Cabanas and
Monika Polakovic and the second duo of
Marleen Gort and
Naomi Esteve were 8-4 winners, while the top pair of
Sarah Stearman and
Aniek Remmerswaal rounded out doubles play with an 8-6 victory.

As play transitioned into singles action, the Chargers were put on the brink of sealing the match when the team went up 4-0 thanks to Esteve's 6-0, 6-0 shutout at the fifth spot, and UAH went over the top when Cabanas also won 6-0, 6-0 at the second position.

The Chargers picked up three additional points at the sixth position where
Marta Briega won 6-2, 6-1; at the No. 4 which saw Stearman win 6-0, 6-4; and from Remmerswaal's 6-4, 6-3 win at the third.

UAH will look to pick up another conference win on Saturday when Christian Brothers visits Huntsville. The match is slated for a 1 p.m. start.
