COUNTRY ROADS…: The UAH men's lacrosse team is headed to the Mountain State for a pair of games, taking on Davis & Elkins at 3 p.m. CDT on Friday before turning around to face Ohio Valley at 1 p.m. CDT on Saturday. The Chargers visit West Virginia with a 3-6 mark on the season and looking to snap a three-game slide.
LAST TIME OUT: The Chargers have been off for nine days since their last game which was a 10-9 setback to Adams State in Huntsville.
Kevin Coppinger scored three times and added an assist in the hard-fought contest.
LEADING THE WAY: UAH has its first 30-point scorer in program history as
Luke LeVette has surpassed Coppinger's mark of 29 points from a year ago, leading the team with 16 goal and 14 assists to total 30 points. Coppinger is right on his heels with 27 points from 16 goals and 11 assists.
STEADY IMPROVEMENT: Last season the Chargers had four players who reached double figures in goals and with four games remaining this season, the team has five double-figure goal scorers with
Collin Wilcox (14),
Bryant Baus (14), and
Jack Utrevis (11) joining LeVette and Coppinger.
ABOUT DAVIS & ELKINS: The Senators are 2-6 overall on the season and own a 1-4 mark in Elkins. With 20 goals and one assist, Matt O'Dwyer leads the team with 21 points, while Zach Cotoni has 20 points on the strength of eight goals and 12 assists. Kyle Seago has started all eight games in the cage for D&E, recording 111 saves while giving up more than 15.5 goals per contest.
SERIES HISTORY: The two teams met last year in Elkins, and the Chargers won 10-9 in overtime. Coppinger had the game-winner in overtime as he scored with UAH in a man-down situation.
ABOUT OHIO VALLEY: The Fighting Scots are 3-4 on the season including a win in its only previous home game. Three players have at least 20 points for OVU including Keith Parkman who has 16 goals and seven assists to tally 23 points on the season, while Caden Rites has played the majority of the minutes in the cage, stopping 60 shots while allowing just under 14 goals per contest.
SERIES HISTORY: UAH dropped a tough one to Ohio Valley last season, falling 17-14 in the Rocket City. Both
Quincy Ward and
Daniel Wilson, Jr., scored three times in the setback.
