Kurt Gosselin Voted All-WCHA Third Team

EDINA, Minn. | The Western Collegiate Hockey Association released its season awards for the 2016-17 campaign, and The University of Alabama in Huntsville hockey team received the program's first-ever all-conference recognition in All-WCHA Third Team honoree Kurt Gosselin.

A defenseman from Brighton, Michigan, Gosselin excelled in his sophomore season with 18 points from a team-high nine goals – the most by a UAH defenseman since Matt Baxter in 2010-11 – in addition to nine assists from the blue line. He currently ranks second amongst WCHA defensemen with nine goals scored, while rating fourth on the UAH roster with 18 points.

During the 2016-17 campaign, Gosselin was named the WCHA Defensive Player of the Week on two occasions for his performance in series against Alaska Anchorage (Nov. 4-5) and Ferris State (Dec. 3-4). He also recorded the Chargers first hat trick since joining the WCHA and first hat trick by a UAH defenseman since Jan. 2, 1999 by Shane Stewart on Dec. 3 against FSU.

UAH capped off the 2016-17 season with a 9-22-3 overall record and a 9-16-3 mark within the WCHA.
