CELEBRATING CHAMPIONS: UAH hockey will be celebrating the program's 1997-98 NCAA Division II National Championship team throughout the weekend, as the Chargers will don replica 1997-98 jerseys on both Friday and Saturday night. A special ceremony is planned for the championship squad during first intermission on Saturday to commemorate the program's second NCAA Division II Championship.

PROMOS: As part of the 1997-98 reunion, UAH will be giving away 500 special edition trading cards on Friday night followed by Saturday's featured giveaway of replica 1997-98 UAH youth jerseys to the first 250 kids aged 12 and under in attendance.

KIDS IN FREE: Huntsville International Airport and UAH have again partnered to give children ages 12 and under free general admission to all 14 UAH hockey home games this season. Tickets are available on a first-come-first-serve basis and may be acquired at the VBC box office during pregame on game nights.

UPCOMING WEEKEND: UAH (8-16-2, 7-11-2 WCHA) is set to begin an eight-game homestand to wrap up the 2017-18 regular season beginning this weekend against rival Bemidji State (13-7-6, 10-4-4 WCHA) at the Von Braun Center on Friday and Saturday night. Puck drops at 7:07 p.m. for both contests.

RECENT ACTION: The Chargers wrapped up the regular season road slate a weekend ago at Alaska Anchorage on Jan. 12-13, as UAH took the opener 4-2 before the Seawolves made it a series split with a 2-1 in the finale. UAH ended its road regular season schedule with 12 consecutive away contests, which is longest string of road games in the program's WCHA history.

HOMETOWN LEADER: Huntsville native
Josh Kestner was named one of 74 nominees for 2018 Hobey Baker Award fan balloting last week, which the second time he has been nominated for the prestigious honor. Kestner enters the weekend as UAH's offensive leader with 22 points on a team-high and career-best 16 goals in addition to six assists, and the senior ranks second in the WCHA in goals (16), first in goals per game (.62), and tied in power-play goals (6).

SENIOR PRODUCING: Brennan Saulnier picked up a goal and an assist during the series at Alaska Anchorage, which moves the senior to third on the roster with 14 points on eight goals and six assists. He is just one of two players on the roster with at least eight goals and six assists, with Kestner (16g-6a) being the other.

BETWEEN THE PIPES: Jordan Uhelski has made three consecutive starts in goal for the Chargers and 21 overall in the 2017-18 season, compiling 608 saves with a 2.83 goals against average and a .912 save percentage. The senior netminder begins the weekend ranked third in the conference in save percentage (.912) while accumulating the second-most saves (608) among league goalies.

ROOKIE RISING: Christian Rajic has enjoyed a strong freshman campaign thus far in 2017-18 as he ranks second on the roster and tied for third amongst WCHA rookies with eight goals while compiling four assists for 12 points to pace the UAH freshmen.

LOOKING AHEAD: Following this weekend against Bemidji State, UAH looks ahead to home series against Northern Michigan (Feb. 3-4), Minnesota State (Feb. 9-10) and Bowling Green (Feb. 23-24) to wrap up the regular season.

BEAVERS PROFILE: Bemidji State – who ranks fourth in the WCHA standings with 36 league points – boasts an overall record of 13-7-6 and 10-4-4 in WCHA contests, after most recently sweeping Ferris State over the weekend by scores of 2-0 and 4-1. The Beavers offense is paced by Kyle Bauman with 26 points on nine goals and 17 assists, while Michael Bitzer has played the majority of time in goal with a .915 save percentage and 2.11 goals against average.

SERIES HISTORY: The Chargers and Beavers will meet for the 84th and 85th times in the series history this weekend, with Bemidji State holding the edge in the all-time series at 49-30-5 while UAH has a 20-18-3 record in Huntsville against the BSU. The pair of programs have a storied history dating back to a total of four meetings in the NCAA Division II Championships in the 1990s.
