Box Score MADISON | The University of Alabama in Huntsville men's lacrosse team blew past visiting Newberry on Sunday, winning 20-5 to earn the first win of the 2018 campaign. The Chargers improve to 1-1, while the Wolves slip to 0-2.

Turning Point
With the game tied at 4-4 with just under nine minutes remaining in the second quarter, the Chargers scored the next four goals spanning into the start of the third quarter to take a commanding lead in the contest that ultimately would not be relinquished.

Luke LeVette was an offensive force in the contest, scoring six times and adding an assist to total seven points on the day as one of seven Chargers who recorded multiple points in the contest.
-Scoring four times and picking up an assist was
Emory Weaver, while
Kevin Coppinger potted three goals and also recorded an assist.
-Matching Weaver's five-point game was
Nicholas Ranta who had two goals and three assists, and the three assists were one off the team-high mark of four recorded by

-For the contest, the Chargers enjoyed a wide 58-22 advantage in shots including a 30-12 advantage in attempts that were on target.
-UAH was 11-for-12 in clears on the afternoon, and the team also built up a 38-18 advantage in groundballs.

Inside the Flow
-Coppinger and Utrevis scored the game's first two goals, but by the end of the first quarter, the visitors had tallied twice to level the contest at 2-2.
-LeVette's first goal of the game came at the 13:15 mark of the second quarter before another Coppinger tally made it 4-2 UAH with 10:53 left in the frame, but a pair of man-up goals for the Wolves quickly tied the match at 4-4 with 8:44 remaining.
-The Chargers would score their own man-up tally when Zois scored at the 7:17 mark of the period to start the four-goal spurt that included a pair of goals from LeVette and Weaver's first of the contest which came nearly seven minutes into the third quarter to put the hosts ahead 8-4.
-Newberry scored to make it 8-5 at the 6:45 mark of the third quarter, but that would be all the scoring UAH would allow on the day as the Chargers tallied the next 12 goals to produce the 20-5 final.

Noteworthy
-LeVette – who led UAH in scoring last year with 48 points from 31 goals and 17 assists – now has nine points on the year to lead the team.
-The goals are the second-most in a game in program history, behind only the 23 that UAH scored in the season finale last year against Shorter.
-Randell earns the win in goal in his collegiate debut.
