UAH Travels to Pensacola to Face Pair of SSC Opponents

2/15/2018 3:37:00 PM

TO THE SUNSHINE STATE: The UAH men's lacrosse team continues play this weekend, traveling to Pensacola, Florida, for a pair of neutral site games against Sunshine State Conference foes. The team will take on Embry-Riddle at 5 p.m. on Friday before turning around to face Palm Beach Atlantic at 11 a.m. on Sunday. UAH enters the weekend at 1-1.

FINAL NON-CONFERENCE TUNE-UPS: This weekend's two games are the final non-conference games prior to UAH's debut in the GLVC which will happen on Feb. 25 at Charger Park when the Chargers welcome Maryville to Huntsville.

LAST TIME OUT: The Chargers overwhelmed Newberry last Sunday, closing the game on a 12-0 run to claim a 20-5 victory. Luke LeVette led the Chargers with a seven-point contest on six goals and an assist.

PICKING UP WHERE HE LEFT OFF: LeVette – who is the reigning GLVC Offensive Player of the Week – leads the team with nine points thanks to a team-best eight goals, starting off his sophomore season strong which should be no surprise after the numbers he put up in his freshman year. A season ago, LeVette led the Chargers with 31 goals and 17 assists for 48 assists.

WINNING FACE-OFFS: Freshman Nik Kubik has made an immediate impact, already ranking 16th in the country in face-off percentage as he has 54.5 percent of those he has taken on the season.

ABOUT EMBRY-RIDDLE: The Eagles are 0-1 in their inaugural season after falling 12-3 in the program's first game. Kyle Dalrymple scored two of the team's three goals in the game, and Ian Heggblod was strong in face-offs, winning 11 of the 13 he took in the game.

SERIES HISTORY: This marks the first-ever meeting between the two programs.

ABOUT PALM BEACH ATLANTIC: The Sailfish are also in their first year as a program and fell 21-8 in the team's first-ever game. In the setback, Ted Hollander and Brendan Fischer both scored a pair of goals to lead PBA offensively.

SERIES HISTORY: This marks the first-ever meeting between the two programs.
