BIRMINGHAM, Ala. | The University of Alabama in Huntsville women's tennis team cruised to an 8-1 win over Birmingham Southern on Thursday. The Chargers improve to 4-2 on the year, while BSC slips to 2-1.

UAH will be back in action on Saturday when the team takes on West Georgia at 11 a.m. CST in Carrollton. That match time has been adjusted due to a forecast of inclement weather.

On Thursday, the Chargers started off the match strong by claiming all three doubles points.

The No. 1 pairing of
Stefanie Mehlich and
Sarah Stearman won 8-2, while the duo of
Cristina Cabanas and
Mariana Lopez were 8-3 winners at the third.
Monika Polakovic and
Marilene van Beek made it a clean sweep by winning 8-6 at the second.

In singles play, UAH's most comfortable victory came at the No. 3 where Stearman won 6-0, 6-1, while Cabanas won 6-0, 6-3 at the second and van Beek was a 6-2, 7-5 victor at the fifth spot.

The two other victories for the Chargers saw Mehlich win 6-0, 2-6, 6-2 at the No. 1, while at the sixth position Polakovic won 6-2, 3-6, 10-5.
