ALLEN, Texas | The Allen Americans of the ECHL announced over the weekend the signing of The University of Alabama in Huntsville forward
Tyler Poulsen to an Amateur Try-Out contract.
Â
A native of Arvada, Colorado, Poulsen had a career-best campaign in 2017-18 as the junior ranked second on the roster with 26 points on a team-best 17 assists and nine goals. In his career with the Chargers, Poulsen appeared in a totaled of 88 games and registered 38 points from 12 goals and 20 assists.
Â
The Allen Americans are the ECHL affiliate for the NHL's San Jose Sharks, which makes Poulsen the third player from UAH's 2017-18 roster to sign with a NHL affiliated club as
Josh Kestner (AHL's Toronto Marlies) and
Brennan Saulnier (ECHL's Atlanta Gladiators) inked contracts earlier in March.
Â
The Chargers as a team experienced the program's strongest season since joining the WCHA for the 2013-14 campaign, as the squad finished as the seventh seed with a WCHA record of 10-16-2 for 33 league points while finishing with an overall record of 12-23-2 which is the highest win total for UAH since 2009-10.
