HUNTSVILLE | The University of Alabama in Huntsville teams rolled to victory on Friday as the women's team blanked Shorter 9- while the men's team knocked off the Hawks by an 8-1 score. The women move to 6-5 (4-4 Gulf South Conference) on the year with the win, while the men improve to 5-9 (3-5 GSC).

In the women's match, UAH started off with a 2-0 lead as the Hawks were unable to field a complete lineup, but the Chargers would do plenty to win the match on their own.

In doubles action, UAH picked up an 8-2 victory from the No. 1 pairing of
Stefanie Mehlich and
Sarah Stearman, while the No. 2 duo of
Cristina Cabanas and
Mariana Lopez won 8-4.

As the match transitioned to singles play, Hailey Simon earned a 6-0, 6-0 victory at the No. 5, while Lopez earned a comfortable 6-2, 6-3 win at the No. 4. At the second position, Cabanas was a 6-3, 6-4 winner, and both Mehlich and Stearman won in three with Mehlich picking up a 6-2, 4-6, 10-3 triumph at the top spot and Stearman winning 6-4, 3-6, 12-10 at the third.

In the men's match, UAH easily swept the doubles points to take a 3-0 lead.

Guilherme Coleta and
Kieran Roskell-Thomas joined up for an 8-1 win at the third,
Dylan Hall and
Timo Christen were 8-2 winners at the top spot, and
James Caddies and
Noah Pring won 8-3 at the No. 2.

In singles play, both
Tim Nutz and Coleta surrendered just one game with Nutz winning 6-1, 6-0 at the second and Coleta reigning victorious 6-0, 6-1 at the sixth position. Also winning comfortably was Roskell-Thomas at the five as he won 6-1, 6-1, while Caddies was a 6-4, 6-3 winner at the third spot. Pring rebounded from an opening-set 7-6 setback to win 6-0, 10-5 to claim the point at the No. 4.

The two teams will now begin their Spring Break trip, starting with a Sunday visit to GSC foe Valdosta State.
