Rollins Uses Second-Half Push to Defeat UAH

Box Score WINTER PARK, Fla. | The University of Alabama in Huntsville men's lacrosse team put up a strong fight on Monday, falling in the Sunshine State by a 16-10 score at Rollins. The Chargers slip to 6-4 with the setback, while RC improves to 4-3.
 
Turning Point
-After the Chargers took a 7-6 lead just over two minutes into the third quarter, the Tars scored the next nine goals to secure the victory.
 
Inside the Box Score
-Emory Weaver recorded a four-goal performance to pace the Chargers, and Luke LeVette – in his first game since March 2 – scored three times in the game.
-A pair of Chargers had a goal and an assist as Kevin Coppinger and Nicholas Ranta both logged two points, and James Cox scored with Caleb Merrow and Jacob Glen adding an assist each to round out UAH's offensive contributors.
-Kyle Siersma made seven saves in goal for the Chargers.
-Nik Kubik, Colton Nall, and Siersma all had three ground balls.
-Rollins held a 37-28 advantage in shots, though the Chargers outshot the hosts after a first quarter that saw the Tars fire off 12 shots to UAH's one.
-The Tars also held a 7-0 advantage in shots on goal in the first quarter to establish a 23-16 edge for the game.
-UAH was 10-for-12 in clears, while Rollins was 9-for-12.
-The Tars picked up 37 ground balls, and the Chargers logged 21 in the contest.
 
Inside the Flow
­-The game was one of significant momentum swings, and it was the Tars who had the first push, going up 5-0 by the end of the first quarter.
-Coppinger had the first goal for the Chargers, scoring just 91 seconds into the second period, and after Rollins scored to make it 6-1, LeVette had an answer within less than 30 seconds before Weaver scored three straight, allowing LeVette's second of the night to tie the game at 6-6 going into the half.
-At 12:42 of the third quarter, Cox scored to put the Chargers ahead 7-6, but Rollins then ripped off the nine straight to go in front 15-7 by the 2:53 mark of the fourth quarter.
-Weaver, Levette, and Ranta then scored around another Rollins goal in the waning moments to create the 16-10 final.
 
Noteworthy
-After being held scoreless against Indianapolis, Weaver registers his third four-goal game of the season, and he now ranks second on the team in goals with 18 with his 21 points ranking third.
-Despite missing the three games, LeVette maintained his spot atop the goal ledger for UAH, and with the three goals on Monday, he now owns 23 on the year.
-Coppinger continues to pace the Chargers with 27 points as he now features 16 goals and 11 assists.
 
Next Time Out
-The Chargers will return to action on Wednesday when the team takes on Florida Southern in Lakeland at 3 p.m. CDT.
