BIRMINGHAM, Ala. | The Gulf South Conference released its weekly volleyball awards on Tuesday morning, and The University of Alabama in Huntsville was represented by Haley Hop as GSC Defensive Player of the Week.
 
This is Hop's first GSC weekly honor of the season, and she has now been named GSC Defensive Player of the Week five times in her career.
 
A native of Madison, Alabama, Hop displayed stellar defense across four wins over the weekend in Spartanburg, South Carolina, with a team-high 78 digs and a 6.50 digs per set average.
 
Hop twice totaled 24 digs in a match this past Friday in victories over Mars Hill and North Greenville, helping her to rank second in the GSC with a 4.94 digs per set average this season.
 
UAH looks ahead to three matches this week, beginning on Tuesday at 5 p.m. against No. 10 West Florida.
