BIRMINGHAM, Ala. | The Gulf South Conference unveiled its weekly volleyball award winners on Tuesday morning, and The University of Alabama in Huntsville volleyball team was represented by
Shayla Libby as GSC Defensive Player of the Week.

Libby has garnered GSC Defensive Player of the Week honors in back-to-back weeks.

A native of Niceville, Florida, Libby paced the Chargers defense with a team-high 50 digs and a 5.56 digs per set average in GSC wins this past week over Lee and Shorter.

Libby reset her season-high in digs in both matches with 23 digs at Lee on Tuesday followed by 27 scoops at Shorter on Saturday.

The freshman currently ranks eighth in the GSC with 240 total digs, while ranking second in the league in conference matches with 106 digs and a 5.30 digs per set average.

The Chargers open the week's slate on Tuesday at 6 p.m. against visiting Auburn Montgomery at Kelly Court at Spragins Hall.
