HUNTSVILLE | The University of Alabama in Huntsville volleyball team has earned the program's first-ever berth to the NCAA South Region Championships as announced on the NCAA regional selection show on Monday evening.
Â
The Chargers – who are seeded seventh in the region – have now advanced to the NCAA tournament six times in the program's history, as UAH previously competed in South Central regionals as recently as 2005.
Â
The regional tournament on Dec. 5-7 features a total of eight teams, as Lynn came out as the top seed and host for the tournament in Boca Raton, Florida.
Â
The seventh-seeded Chargers look ahead to an opening-round matchup on Dec. 5 against No. 2 seed and reigning NCAA Champion Tampa. This meeting will be the first-ever postseason matchup between UAH and Tampa, as the two squads have met six previous times in program history in the regular season.
Â
UAH boasts a 24-9 overall record in the 2019 campaign along with a 14-2 mark in Gulf South Conference play to give the squad its third straight 20-win season. The Chargers are led by All-GSC selections
Isabelle Barnes,
Abby Brooks and
