UAH Garners Five 2018-19 WCHA Scholar-Athletes

BLOOMINGTON, Minn. | The Western Collegiate Hockey Association unveiled its 2018-19 WCHA All-Academic Team and WCHA Scholar-Athlete Awards, and The University of Alabama in Huntsville hockey team was represented by five WCHA Scholar-Athletes and 12 WCHA All-Academic honorees.
 
The UAH hockey program's five WCHA Scholar-Athletes for 2018-19 include Austin Beaulieu, Sean Rappleyea, Teddy Rotenberger, John Teets and Adam Wilcox. Teets has now been honored three times as a WCHA Scholar-Athlete while Rappleyea, Rotenberger and Wilcox collect their second career honor.
 
To earn recognition as a WCHA Scholar-Athlete, league-member student-athletes must have completed at least one year of residency at their present institution prior to the current academic year and must also have a grade-point average of at least 3.50 on a 4.0 scale for the previous two semesters or three quarters, or may qualify if his/her overall GPA is at least 3.50 for all terms at his or her present institution.
 
Along with the Chargers five WCHA Scholar-Athletes, UAH's additional seven WCHA All-Academic honorees include Josh Astorino, Andrew Dodson, Hans Gorowsky, Connor James, Cam Knight, Brandon Salerno and Connor Wood.
 
To qualify for the WCHA All-Academic Team, student-athletes must have completed one year of eligibility at their present institution, prior to the current academic year and have a GPA of at least 3.0 for the previous two semesters or three quarters.
 
UAH ended the season with an 8-28-2 overall record and 8-18-2 within the WCHA, as the Chargers earned a trip to the WCHA playoffs in consecutive seasons.
