BIRMINGHAM, Ala. | The Gulf South Conference released its weekly women's lacrosse honorees on Tuesday, and The University of Alabama in Huntsville women's lacrosse team was represented by Leslie Allen Brown as GSC Defensive Player of the Week and Katie Gerber as GSC Freshman of the Week.
 
Brown earns her first weekly award of the season and the third of her career after guiding the Chargers defense to GSC victories over Montevallo and Young Harris this past week, totaling 16 saves and a .485 save percentage for the week. The Mountain Brook, Alabama, native had a season-best 12 saves in the 13-12 win over Young Harris, and held the Mountain Lions to just one goal in the final 24 minutes of the victory.
 
A native of Louisville, Kentucky, Gerber notched her second GSC Freshman of the Week award of 2019 as she tied for the roster lead on offense with five points on four goals and one assist. Gerber led the Chargers to victory at Montevallo last Wednesday with a team-high four points from three goals and one assist in addition to a roster-best five ground balls and four draw controls.
 
UAH improved to 6-0 on the season with an 8-6 win over visiting Findlay at Charger Park on Monday, as the Chargers now look ahead to next Monday at 3 p.m. against Ursuline at home.
