Mehlich, Hall Both Earn All-GSC Status

5/1/2019 7:00:00 PM

HUNTSVILLE | The Gulf South Conference announced its 2019 All-GSC Tennis Teams on Wednesday at a pre-tournament banquet, and The University of Alabama in Huntsville is represented by First Team choice Stefanie Mehlich on the women's side and Second Team selection Dylan Hall on the men's team.

Mehlich earns all-GSC status for a second straight season as the sophomore was a Second Team honoree during her freshman campaign a year ago.

The Oberhausen, Germany, native has had a terrific sophomore season, posting a 12-5 record including a 7-2 mark in GSC play, and she has played exclusively at the No. 1 in singles. Mehlich has closed the regular season particularly strongly, reeling off six straight wins.

Mehlich has also excelled in doubles play, going 10-8 overall and 5-3 in conference action from the top position.

Hall closes his collegiate campaign in fine fashion, recording a team-high 13-5 record in singles action, and that also included going 6-3 against GSC opponents while playing at the No. 3.

The senior has won seven straight to end the regular season, part of a stretch in which he has won nine of his last 11. That success has also been evident in his doubles action, recording three straight victories to finish the campaign to help him go 10-5 on the year while notching five wins against GSC opponents.

Mehlich and her teammates will return to action on Thursday in the GSC tournament, taking on Mississippi College at 9 a.m., while Hall and the men's team is slated for a 1:30 p.m. contest against Valdosta State.
