HUNTSVILLE | The 2019 Google Cloud Academic All-District At-Large Teams have been announced, and The University of Alabama in Huntsville tennis teams each earned a selection as Timo Christen and Stefanie Mehlich both earned the recognition.

The two were selected to the Division II At-Large Team for District 5 which is comprised of schools from the Gulf South Conference, Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference, and the Sunshine State Conference.

The at-large selections are from a pool of athletes from beach volleyball, bowling, crew, golf, lacrosse, swimming, and tennis along with other sports not sponsored by District 5 institutions.

Mehlich has excelled in the classroom in her first two seasons in Huntsville, posting a 3.94 GPA in earth science systems. She has also been strong on the court, earning all-GSC honors in each of the two campaigns including a First Team selection this season. During her sophomore year, UAH's No. 1 posted a 12-5 record in singles action including a 7-2 mark in conference play, and Mehlich was also solid in doubles, going 10-8 while playing at the top position.

Christen has been terrific academically at UAH, registering a 3.99 GPA in chemistry through his first three years as a Charger. On the court, Christen played at the top spot in singles and posted four victories, while in doubles action he racked up 11 victories including five against GSC opponents.

First-team Academic All-District honorees advance to the Google Cloud Academic All-America® ballot. First-, second- and third-team (if necessary) Academic All-America honorees will be announced in June.
