AUSTIN, Texas | The 2019 Google Cloud Academic All-America NCAA Division I At-Large Teams, as selected by the College Sport Information Directors of America, were announced, and The University of Alabama in Huntsville hockey team was represented by
John Teets as a Second Team All-America honoree.

This is Teets first CoSIDA Academic All-America recognition in his career, after being selected as an Academic All-District performer in his junior and senior seasons. He is additionally the first CoSIDA Academic All-America honoree in the UAH hockey program's Western Collegiate Hockey Association era.

The at-large teams for the Google Cloud Academic All-America® program include the sports of fencing, golf, gymnastics, ice hockey, lacrosse, rifle, skiing, swimming & diving, tennis and water polo for both men and women, as well as beach volleyball, bowling, field hockey and rowing for women, and volleyball and wrestling for men.

A native of Fairbanks, Alaska, Teets played in all 38 games in the 2018-19 campaign as he totaled six points on six assists to rank fourth amongst UAH defenseman. Additionally, Teets rated third on the roster with 55 blocks on the defensive end while picking up his third WCHA Scholar-Athlete distinction as he finished his career with a 4.0 GPA in finance.

UAH ended the 2018-19 season with an 8-28-2 overall record and 8-18-2 within the league, as the Chargers earned a trip to the WCHA playoffs in consecutive seasons.
