HUNTSVILLE | The Intercollegiate Tennis Association announced its 2019 ITA All-Academic Teams and Scholar-Athletes on Thursday, and The University of Alabama in Huntsville tennis teams were well represented in the academic awards.

Both the women's and men's teams were named All-Academic Teams and a total of seven women and six men were selected as Scholar-Athletes.

In order to be named an ITA All-Academic Team, the program must have a cumulative team GPA of at least 3.2, while Scholar-Athletes must be a letter winner, own at least a 3.5 GPA, and be enrolled at their present school for at least two semesters.

On the women's side, each of
Rinata Bauzhanova,
Karolin Kirchtag,
Mariana Lopez,
Stefanie Mehlich,
Sarah Stearman,
Presley Thomas, and
Marilene van Beek were named Scholar-Athletes.

The men's team was represented by
James Caddies,
Timo Christen,
Guilherme Coleta,
Tim Nutz,
Noah Pring, and
Sebastian Rohrbach.

Earlier this summer, both Mehlich and Christen were named CoSIDA Academic All-District performers, and Christen was recently honored as a CoSIDA Academic All-American.
