BIRMINGHAM, Ala. | The Gulf South Conference announced its first weekly volleyball honorees of the 2019 campaign, and The University of Alabama in Huntsville was represented by Isabelle Barnes as GSC Offensive Player of the Week.
 
This is Barnes first career GSC Player of the Week honor.
 
A native of Madison, Alabama, Barnes led the Chargers offense over four matches this past Friday and Saturday in Huntsville with 46 kills, a 3.54 kills per set average and a .476 hitting percentage.
 
The senior additionally excelled on the defensive end with a team-high 21 total blocks, while accruing at least 10 kills in each of the Chargers four victories to open the season.
 
Last season, Barnes was second in the conference with a .332 hitting percentage and ninth with 280 kills, as she garnered a D2CCA All-South Region nod.
 
UAH is at home again for four matches this Friday and Saturday, as the program hosts the 2019 Charger Classic presented by the Huntsville Sports Commission.
