BLOOMINGTON, Minn. | The Western Collegiate Hockey Association announced its weekly award winners on Monday afternoon, and The University of Alabama in Huntsville was represented by
Liam Izyk as WCHA Rookie of the Week.

This is Izyk's first career weekly honor from the WCHA.

A native of Blackie, Alberta, Izyk led the Chargers offense and was tied for first amongst WCHA freshmen this past weekend with three points on one goal and two assists.

The freshman notched an assist on the lone goal by the Chargers on Friday night, before supplying his first career multi-point performance in Saturday night's victory over Michigan Tech with one goal and one assist.

This season, Izyk is one of six Chargers to appear in all 26 of the team's games, as he enters the week fourth on the roster with eight points on two goals and six assists.

The Chargers are back in action at the Von Braun Center this Friday and Saturday night for Military Appreciation Weekend with matchups against visiting Alaska. Puck drops at 7:07 p.m. both nights at the VBC.
