HUNTSVILLE | The 2020 Academic All-District Baseball Team, selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America, was announced this week, and The University of Alabama in Huntsville baseball team was represented by
Palmer Ford and
Tyler McCown for their combined performance on the field and in the classroom.

This is the first career CoSIDA Academic All-District distinction for both Ford and McCown.

A Huntsville native, Ford split time between first and second base in the 2020 campaign with the Chargers with a .276 batting average, 12 runs scored, two doubles and eight RBI. He additionally committed just one error in 84 chances in the field for a .988 fielding percentage.

Ford currently holds a 4.0 GPA in biology.

McCown saw action in 17 contests in the shortened 2020 season with a team-high two triples to go along with two homers, eight RBI, 13 runs and five steals. In his career, McCown has played in 96 games through his junior season.

McCown presently features a 3.60 GPA as a mechanical engineering major.

Honorees selected first-team Academic All-District will advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America ballot. Academic All-America honorees will be announced from June 8-11.

The Division II and III CoSIDA Academic All-America programs are partially financially supported by the NCAA Division II and III national governance structures to assist CoSIDA with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2019-20 Divisions II and III Academic All-America programs. The NAIA CoSIDA Academic All-America program is partially financially supported through the NAIA national office.
