HUNTSVILLE | The University of Alabama in Huntsville hockey team opens the 2020-21 home slate this Friday and Saturday night at the Von Braun Center against visiting Ferris State. Puck drops at 7:07 p.m. on both nights.

UAH is coming off a pair of losses to start Western Collegiate Hockey Association play for the 2020-21 campaign, giving the squad a 0-5-1 overall record and 0-2-0 mark in conference games.

Tyrone Bronte – a native of Melbourne, Australia – continues to lead the Chargers offense with four points on one goal and three assists, followed by juniors
Bauer Neudecker and
Tyr Thompson with three points apiece on two goals and one assist each.

Sophomore
David Fessenden has played the majority of time in goal for the Chargers this season with a 2.15 goals against average and .925 save percentage over 223-plus minutes between the pipes. He has made 20 or more saves in each of his four starts thus far.

The Chargers defensive pairing of freshmen
Ayodele Adeniye and
Brian Scoville has seen early returns as both are tied for the team lead with a +2 rating on the ice through six games with a combined 17 blocks.

Ferris State enters this weekend's tilts with a 0-6-0 overall record and a 0-2-0 mark in WCHA play, following two losses at Bowling Green this past Saturday and Sunday. The Bulldogs feature three players with five points including Lucas Finner (1g-4a), Justin Michaelian (2g-3a) and Ethan Stewart (3g-2a), while Roni Salmenkangas has played the most time in goal for FSU with a 4.64 goals against average and .862 save percentage.

The Chargers continue WCHA play next Friday and Saturday at rival Bemidji State, before returning home on Jan. 22-23 against Northern Michigan.

The UAH Department of Athletics in conjunction with the Von Braun Center will be operating UAH Hockey games at Propst Arena to accommodate fans with social distancing measures in place in 2021. UAH will host games with a socially distanced seating model that allows for approximately 30% capacity.
