HUNTSVILLE | The first NCAA South Region volleyball rankings for the 2021 season were unveiled on Wednesday afternoon, and The University of Alabama in Huntsville was rated No. 4 in the region.

UAH is the second-highest ranked Gulf South Conference team in the first installment of the poll, as West Florida is the highest-rated team in Wednesday's release.

Nova Southeastern came in at second, followed by Tampa in third, UAH in fourth, and Embry-Riddle in fifth. Lynn, Florida Southern and Eckerd round out the sixth through eighth slots in the region rankings.

UAH has been selected to compete in an NCAA regional tournament six times in program history, with the last appearance coming in 2019 as the seventh seed.

The Chargers currently boast an 18-7 overall record and a 10-2 mark in GSC matches, as UAH is coming off a four-set road win at Auburn Montgomery on Tuesday. UAH is additionally 15-4 against in-region opponents.

The Blue & White have four more matches remaining on the 2021 regular season schedule, beginning with the penultimate GSC road match at Shorter on Friday at 5 p.m. CT.
