TUSCALOOSA, Ala. | The University of Alabama in Huntsville women's basketball team fell on the road Thursday night, dropping an exhibition contest at SEC foe Alabama by an 87-41 score.
Sloan Mann led the Chargers in scoring with 13 points on the night after going 5-for-8 from the field, while
Adrian Grant paced UAH on the glass with five rebounds. Last year's GSC leader in steals
Holly Harris picked up where she left off as she tallied three takeaways in the contest to go along with a pair of blocks.
UAH would score the opening bucket of the contest, but Alabama would score 17 straight on its way to a 26-10 lead at the end of the first after shooting 52.6 percent in the stanza. The Chargers would hold the hosts to a 40.0 percent shooting mark in the second quarter, a period in which Alabama would only hold a 13-9 scoring advantage to create a 39-19 score at the break.
Alabama would go on to hold a 60-28 advantage at the end of the third before scoring 27 in the fourth to create the 87-41 final.
For the contest, the Crimson Tide connected on 50.0 percent of its attempts from the floor while holding UAH to a 27.1 percent shooting performance. Alabama also won the rebounding battle by a 54-27 margin.
Nia Daniel led Alabama with 19 points, while Jada Rice turned in a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds.
UAH will now turn its attention to its season opener, as the Chargers will start the 2021-22 campaign in Cleveland, Tennessee, against a pair of Sunshine State Conference foes beginning with a Friday, Nov. 12 contest against Saint Leo.
Tip-off in Cleveland is slated for 3 p.m. CT.
