UAH Stumbles at Anderson on Wednesday

Box Score ANDERSON, S.C. | The University of Alabama in Huntsville men's lacrosse team fell on the road on Wednesday, dropping a 12-9 decision to host Anderson. UAH slips to 1-1 on the year, while Anderson improves to 2-0.

Turning Point
-After the Chargers went up 8-7 with three minutes left in the third quarter, the hosts would score five of the final six goals of the game to tilt the contest in their favor. 
 
Inside the Box Score
-Jacob Glen led UAH with two goals and two assists on the day as he fired off five shots of which three were on goal. 
-Two other Chargers registered two points including Brody Phillips who scored once and also picked up an assist, while Reid Vender added an assist to a goal for his two points. 
-Each of Bryce Ferraro, Luke LeVette, Greyson Stevens, Joseph Stuber, and Cameron Crawford also scored for UAH in the contest, while Kyle Light added an assist. 
-Zak Welsh made 15 saves in the cage. 
-Silas Herman, Jack Utrevis, and Joseph Stuber led the guests with three ground balls, while Utrevis cause a team-best two turnovers. 
-Anderson outshot UAH by a 42-33 margin.
-UAH was 17-for-22 in clearing attempts, while AU was 12-for-16.

Inside the Flow
-UAH struck first with Stevens and Phillips tallying goals in the first five minutes of the game to give the Chargers an early 2-0 lead, and Anderson would get one of those goals back with 6:45 left in the first to create what was eventually a 2-1 game after one.
-At the 12:25 mark of the second, the Trojans pulled into a 2-2 tie, and the teams would trade goals throughout the period with Ferraro and Vender scoring to help create a 4-4 game at the half.
-AU opened the scoring in the third, but Stuber scored followed by a pair from Glen to push the Chargers in front by a 7-5 score with 9:36 on the clock in the third.
-A pair of Anderson goals followed before LeVette put the Chargers back in front at 8-7, but the Trojans tied it in the final minute of the fourth and then scored a pair of goals on both sides of Crawford's fourth-quarter marker to produce the 12-9 final.
 
Noteworthy
-Phillips now has four goals on the season to lead UAH, while Glen leads the Chargers now with six points.
 
Next Time Out
-The Chargers return to action on Saturday, Feb. 13, when the team travels to the Peach State to take on Emmanuel. That contest is slated for a 12 p.m. start.
